Australia's sleepy soph Announces Debut EP lucky
sleepy soph crafts songs that feel like pages pulled from a diary written at golden hour. Her sound blends indie folk and alternative pop, drifting between bedroom-quiet intimacy and soft bursts of sunlight. The EP captures the reflective moments that come with growing up and learning when to hold on or let go.
Speaking on the project, Sophie shares:
"My debut EP lucky is a reflection on what it feels like to navigate my early twenties. I tried to capture the fleeting moments that define this time; falling in love again, losing and gaining friendships, and the growing pains that come with figuring out who you are."
Built around delicate guitars, airy vocals, and laid-back rhythms, lucky moves with a cozy warmth. It opens with leave it, one of two previously released tracks, where Sophie explores the emotional weight of stepping away from friendships that no longer serve us. Soft harmonies wrap around her voice before the track widens with drums, subtle atmospherics, and a gritty electric guitar.
last chips in the packet follows with a nostalgic early 2000s glow. The song floats through the shy beginnings of a new romance, highlighting small gestures, clumsy first moments, and the sweetness of getting to know someone. The track shifts gently with airy vocals, drifting guitars, and pulsing synths.
aquarius song strips everything back for an honest look at what it feels like to stand apart from the crowd. It leads into the smooth, playful, 80s-leaning jazz boy, which features saxophone, clarinet, and flute.
The EP closes on lesson learned, a soft indie anthem shaped by brushed drums and a touch of country from a wailing slide guitar. Written for Sophie’s closest friends, the song captures the heart of girlhood in your twenties and the memories that define it.
lucky feels like a lullaby for growing pains, a warm reminder that change can be comforting when you allow it. The debut arrives with tenderness, reflection, and a sweetness that settles in slowly.
sleepy soph’s debut EP lucky arrives Friday, November 28. She will celebrate the release at Mojo’s in Fremantle on Sunday, November 30 with special guests Paperback Fort and Elianie.
