R&B Artist oH! Debuts Heartfelt New Single "The Greatest"
Toronto-based R&B singer Omar Lunan, now known as oH!, has been an industry veteran for over a decade. From starring on Canadian Idol to performing alongside Usher, Brandy Norwood, and Ginuwine, oH! has built a reputation as a versatile and talented artist. Now, he is stepping into the spotlight with his solo debut, releasing his new single, "The Greatest," as the first taste of his forthcoming eight-song EP, due on November 1st. Signed to S.O.G. Entertainment Inc. and distributed by Orchard-SONY, oH! is preparing for a national tour to showcase his unique musical style to audiences across the country.
In "The Greatest," oH!’s smooth vocals glide across electronic synths, declaring a love that feels as grand as the song’s title suggests. The track blends his signature R&B style with infectious pop elements, resulting in a sound that’s both fresh and nostalgic. With lyrics like, "To have and to hold from this day forward, I want you in my life," oH! captures the universal longing for everlasting love, making it a song that’s both relatable and powerful.
Discussing the inspiration behind the song, oH! reflects on the personal journey that led him to write "The Greatest." "I've always wanted that full, life-long, fulfilling, heart-bursting, transcendent love that everyone desires in this life," he says. "The more I forgive my own misgivings, the more I let go, the more space was created for the deepest, most fulfilling love I always wanted."
The theme of love has been central to oH!’s music, tracing back to his childhood when he first heard Whitney Houston’s "The Greatest Love of All." He recalls hitting the high notes as a seven-year-old and the feeling of elation it gave him. "I knew it was a song about love, but didn’t find meaning until I was older and experienced the word first-hand," oH! shares.
In creating "The Greatest," oH! sought to bottle the feeling of infatuation into a song, evoking the rush of oxytocin and the warmth of early love. "If you remember the first time you fell in love—with anything or anyone—the rush of slight euphoria and the break of a smile while the memories all come rushing in. This is what I was hoping for with writing the song," he explains.
oH!’s career is built on a foundation of experience, ranging from his time as a child performer on Sesame Street to performing as part of the group The Show, and later as a resident vocalist at Toronto's Dazzling Lounge. His journey through the music industry has seen him share the stage with artists like Usher, Tank, and Daniel Caesar, solidifying his place in the Toronto music scene after competing on Canadian Idol.
As he prepares for the next chapter in his career, "The Greatest" serves as a fitting introduction to oH!’s solo work. With his ability to blend genres, write heartfelt lyrics, and craft memorable melodies, oH! is proving himself to be an artist to watch. If this single is any indication, listeners are in for a treat as he continues to release new music.
