Desarae Dee's ADVENTURE: A Bold Journey Through Jazz Fusion
Canadian instrumental fusion artist, pianist, composer, and producer Desarae Dee has released her latest album ADVENTURE, a ten-track instrumental collection that showcases her unique sound. Available now on all streaming platforms, the album features standout singles like “TRAILBLAZER” and “ADVENTURE,” taking listeners on a transformative musical journey that reflects Desarae’s decade-long exploration of her identity and artistry as a Black woman instrumental fusion artist.
ADVENTURE serves as both a personal and artistic statement, as each track acts as a distinct instrumental canvas, portraying the emotions, struggles, and triumphs Desarae has faced throughout her career. As a trailblazer in the Canadian music industry, Desarae’s work breaks down racial, gender, and cultural barriers, making her a pioneering figure in instrumental fusion music. Her sound challenges traditional expectations, merging jazz, gospel, R&B, and other influences into a cohesive, vibrant style.
Reflecting on the journey that inspired the album, Desarae says, “ADVENTURE represents not only my musical journey but also my personal evolution. It’s about bringing a massive vision into existence, overcoming adversity, and discovering the power of staying true to myself.” This vision is embodied in the album’s powerful compositions, which resonate with both the personal resilience Desarae has shown in her career and the broader struggles of underrepresented voices in music.
The album also highlights Desarae’s perseverance in overcoming challenges such as the global COVID-19 pandemic, which added a layer of difficulty to her already complex journey. However, her relentless innovation and refusal to conform to industry standards are the cornerstones of her career and are echoed in the vibrant soundscapes of ADVENTURE.
The album’s production is a collaborative effort, with contributions from Connor Chan, Evan Brown, Caleb Gathright, and Donyea Goodman, while mixing was handled by Adam Josh Pondang and mastering by Gabe Gallucci. Instrumentally, ADVENTURE is supported by top-tier musicians such as Howard Artis and Larnell Lewis on drums, Kemy Siala on bass, Becca Toft on trumpet, and Saxappeal on saxophone.

ABOUT DESARAE DEE
Desarae Dee is an Award Winning Canadian Instrumental Fusion Artist, Pianist, Composer and Producer. Known as “Toronto’s Queen of Vibes,” her passionate and meaningful sound combines a unique mixture of faith, soul, vulnerability and divine balance. Desarae has been a featured headlining artist at Canadian Music Week, Sofar Sounds Toronto, Burdock Piano Fest, Sundé Social, Canvas Art Bar, Waveland Canada, Breaking Sound Canada, Toronto Pearson Airport, and The Robert McLaughlin Gallery. Desarae was a featured artist on the YesTV Television series, Outside the Box with Sheldon Neil in 2017 and twice on The Nikki Clarke Show. Desarae is also a contestant on the 2024 inaugural season of Cash Cab Music Canada. She is a strong believer in giving back to the music community and can be found providing music mentorship with Soundcheck Youth, Marigold Music Program, as well as lending her musical talents to the LIL SIS Organization. She has numerous musical achievements, including being a Yamaha Music Canada, Hammond Organ USA and Juicy Earz Artist, being the recipient of the SiriusXM Black Canadian Award and recently becoming a GRAMMY Recording Academy Voting Member for the NYC Chapter. She has an extensive resume that includes national and international touring, press coverage and radio plays. Desarae has released an abundance of music, with some of her notable songs allowing her to become a recurring artist on CBC Radio and NPR Music’s “Jazz Night in America,” in addition to being a cover feature on Spotify's Fresh Finds Jazz.
Being an underrepresented artist in Canada, Desarae has been able to garnish much success by creating her own niche and lane in the Canadian music industry. Desarae is a rising star and performer to keep an eye out for in the upcoming years. She continues to break gender, racial, social and cultural barriers with her unique approach to music, while forging a path for current and future Black Women Musicians in Canada.
