Singer-Songwriter Sarah Bernstein's Empowering Anthem 'A Woman Like Me' Marks Women's History Month

Singer-songwriter Sarah Bernstein commemorates Women’s History Month with the release of her latest single, "A Woman Like Me," a heartfelt anthem of self-reflection and empowerment. With its raw vocals and tender lyricism, the song offers a profound exploration of personal growth and introspection, now available on all major streaming platforms.

Recalling the song's origins, Bernstein shares, "I wrote ‘A Woman Like Me’ weeping at my coffee table in my old apartment. At its core, it’s a self-reflective song about identifying yourself as the problem. And at the time, it was the most honest I’d ever been with myself in writing.”

Despite initial apprehensions about revealing such personal sentiments, Bernstein's connection with "A Woman Like Me" has flourished over time. "Fast-forward five years later, and it’s my absolute favorite song to perform live," she reveals. "The way people have connected with it, and shared how they relate, made it into something so much more powerful.”

“A Woman Like Me” was crafted by Sarah Bernstein, who also served as producer alongside Shane Adams. The single was mixed by Kenny Varga and mastered by Alex Dobbert at TrueEast Mastering. Recorded at Coop DeVille Studio in Nashville, the track features contributions from talented musicians including Wes Little on drums, Luis Espaillat on bass, Justin Ostrander on guitar, and Shane Adams on piano.

As listeners delve into the heartfelt melodies of “A Woman Like Me,” they embark on a journey of introspection, empowerment, and raw vulnerability—a testament to Bernstein's unwavering authenticity as an artist.

Sarah Bernstein is a German-American Singer/Songwriter. After recording her EP Man in the Moon in Germany at 17 and publishing her music across streaming platforms, her original song ‘Boomerang’ went on to be a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. After initially attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, she transferred to Fordham University where she found home in New York City. Her self-produced EP Spellbound is an ode to her time here, now approaching a decade.

During the pandemic Sarah’s focus shifted from the stage back to songwriting and the studio. After returning to Berklee through their online certificate program, she was introduced to her mentor and producer Shane. In November 2020 she traveled to Nashville for the first time. Her song ‘Till 3am’ was the first of five singles recorded there as she evolved her sound over the next three years. In July 2022, her single ‘Maxine’ debuted on German radio as part of Bayern 3’s Newcomer contest.

In 2023, Bernstein was thrilled to return to the stage and performed six solo shows beginning at The Mint in Los Angeles. She also crossed several iconic New York City venues off her bucket list, making her debut at Rockwood Music Hall and the legendary Bitter End (…twice) later that year.
