Pascale Cheron Honors Her Roots with Debut Album ‘Anna Called’ and Experimental Bangs Tour
After two years of writing, recording, and mixing every note herself, Pascale Cheron has unveiled her debut full-length album, Anna Called—a 24-track opus that weaves jazz, ambient textures, and soulful improvisation into an intimate sonic diary. The title track, “Anna Called,” is now streaming across all major platforms, while the full album is available on Bandcamp.
To mark the release, Cheron is hitting the road for a bi-coastal tour this spring and summer with longtime friend and fellow artist Sophia Eliana. Aptly titled the Experimental Bangs Tour, the journey begins May 10th in Bar Harbor, ME, and wraps up in late July at the Underground Music Festival in Denver. Along the way, she’ll be backed by local bands—some consisting of friends, others discovered through TikTok—further shaping a genre-fluid live experience that thrives on connection, improvisation, and discovery.
“My name was Anna, but my mom changed it to Pascale when I was born,” says Cheron. “She tells me my name has a letter for each one of my aunts. A perfectly consonant string of them all. In honor of the women who made me. The sound of my name. I wrote, recorded, and mixed each song on this album over a period of two years,” she continues. “This album is for Anna.”
Anna Called isn’t just a debut—it’s a deeply personal reflection on identity, transformation, and lineage. The album drifts through ambient soundscapes, experimental production, and jazz-inspired melodies. Songs bloom unexpectedly, often shaped by improvisation and raw emotional power. Each track feels like a snapshot of a memory—some hazy and meditative, others vibrant and bold.
Cheron’s artistry is rooted in both technical skill and spiritual intention. A graduate of UC Berkeley’s Society & Environment and Music programs, she blends her academic grounding in activism with musical storytelling. Her sound has been described as “hauntingly ethereal,” with Various Small Flames praising her ability to craft a “striking atmosphere … where emotional power and dreaminess meet.”
Since 2018, Cheron has written over 75 original songs and released three albums and a collection of singles. Her résumé includes performances at notable venues like the Monterey Jazz Festival, Sonoma Bluegrass Festival, Center for New Media and Audio Technologies, and Germany’s Alien Disko Festival.
With Anna Called and the Experimental Bangs Tour, Pascale Cheron isn’t just sharing music—she’s inviting listeners into her world. Expect a performance that’s as exploratory as it is emotional, rooted in love, memory, and transformation.
