Asylum Records New Artist Butch Dawson Releases "Hummer"

 

Baltimore rapper, producer and songwriter Butch Dawson makes his Asylum Records debut with his hypnotizing new single “Hummer” and its official music video. “Hummer” is available now on all streaming platforms HERE.
 
Produced and written by Butch, “Hummer” showcases his high-energy flow that he effortlessly amplifies with a menacing and bass-heavy instrumental. Poised to become the summer anthem for Gen-Z, “Hummer” serves as lead track from his forthcoming EP Stardust, out June 25^th.
 
The black and white visual, directed by Butch and ThugM0m, offers a glimpse inside the inventive mind of this young talent who plans to push the genre of Hip-Hop to new heights. Merging at the intersection of music and fashion, Butch’s braggadocious bars and experimental perspective are all the right elements for a promising career.

About Butch Dawson

 

Butch naturally gravitated towards music at an early age participating in school talent shows and rap battles. In 2009, Butch began releasing music while also producing for artists such as Black Zheep Dz, Little Pain, Abdu Ali, A$ton Matthews, Soduh and more.

 

Butch has built a loyal underground fanbase around the world through consistently releasing self-produced mixtapes and projects. Most recently, Butch released a nine-track mixtape called Ollieworld in July 2019 which was followed by a nationwide tour with JPEGMAFIA. This work comes nearly a year later after the release of his debut album Swamp Boy, an eight-track project reflecting on his upbringing in West Baltimore. Displaying his unique blend of nostalgic and jazzy melodies with hard driving bass and drums, the project would go on to receive praise from The Fader, VFiles and The Baltimore Sun.

 

Aside from music, Butch has modeled for brands such as ASOS, Adidas, New Balance and more. Most recently, he was most recently in Telfar Global’s SS19 Fashion Show where he performed his hit single “Feel Nobody” in a collaborative performance within the runway show. Butch also modeled in a spread featuring the collection in System Magazine. He was recruited by Telfar again to walk and perform in the AW19 show in early 2019.

 

For nearly a decade, Butch has worked to establish himself as a creative force to be reckoned with among his peers. He is now considered to be the most exciting experimental artist coming out of Baltimore City.

Butch Dawson is a Baltimore bred rapper, and model whose style thrives on juxtaposition and involves a unique blend of his jazz, punk and rap influences stemming from the Baltimore DIY scene.
