Magoo Announce Debut Album What A Life and Big 2026 Tour
Denver bluegrass quartet Magoo just announced their debut album What A Life, arriving February 27, 2026. Fans can pre-save and pre-order it starting today. The news comes with a full tour reveal that stretches across the Western and Southern United States. The run kicks off this Friday, November 21, in Denver and includes select dates supporting Shadowgrass and Kitchen Dwellers.
The band is also sharing a new look at the album with the single “Angel of Telluride,” which features Sam Bush. His presence is significant because he helped shape the sound of progressive bluegrass. Mandolinist Courtlyn Bills explained that the song was born from real moments. “Inspired by actual events, ‘Angel of Telluride’ tells the story of meeting someone and falling in love at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.”
Magoo view this debut as their chance to honor the roots of the genre while still pushing forward. The ten track album leans into heartfelt storytelling, bright vocal moments, and energetic musicianship. It was mastered by GRAMMY winner David Glasser, known for his work with the Grateful Dead. The final result feels spirited and wide open, almost like a road trip through bluegrass history with fresh eyes.
The group is made up of dobro player Dylan Flynn, winner of the 2024 RockyGrass Dobro Competition, guitarist Erik Hill, runner-up in the RockyGrass Flatpicking Contest, mandolinist Courtlyn Bills, and bassist Denton Turner. Their recent festival appearances at WinterWonderGrass, The Big What, and Smalltown For The Cause have built a strong buzz. In 2026 they will play a long list of festivals including Grand Targhee Bluegrass, Northlands Music Festival, WinterWonderGrass, and BajaWonderGrass. With two EPs and several singles already out, What A Life will be their first full statement as a band.
Listeners and critics have taken notice. Spokane publication Inlander praised the group for their immediate energy and described their sound as uptempo progressive bluegrass filled with traditional elements blended with jam band influences. The outlet also highlighted their inventive improvisation and called their approach an “enlivening vigor” for the genre.
What A Life arrives February 27, 2026 and is available to pre-save and pre-order now. The band will be on the road through the end of the year and into the spring. Tickets are available today. Fans can follow Magoo on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook for more news.
